Comments  on the original article about Hijab

Salamun Alaykum,

The Jews made the same mistake as so-called Muslims - they invented religious laws outside what was given to them by God – The Torah. Thus, they produced the books Mishnah and Gemarrah. It is in these fabrications that they find support for covering the head, not in the Torah. As you know, the covering of the head is nowhere to be found in the Quran either, a scripture which consummates all previous scriptures (5:48). But it is found in Hadith and Sunna – the ‘Muslim’ equivalent to Mishnah and Gemarrah.

Below you’ll find examples of such fabrications in Mishnah

http://www.foreveryjew.com/shulchanoruch/mb1-9.html.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mishnah Berurah 1; "Daily Conduct"

Shulchan Oruch:

The law regarding putting on clothing

6

It is forbidden to walk

(9) with an erect posture.

(10) One should also not go

(11) four cubits

(12) with an uncovered head, for respect to the Shechinah.

(13) One should examine his outlets, and dispose of any body waste.

One should cover his entire body and should not go

(14) barefooted. One should accustom himself to excrete morning and evening. This constitutes conscientiousness and cleanliness.

Mishnah Berurah:

(9)WITH AN ERECT POSTURE:

This would drive away the presence of the Shechinah, if this would be possible. Consequently, the Sages write that it is forbidden to walk with an erect posture even for a distance of less than four cubits. It is in fact self understood that such a posture is forbidden even if one stands still in his place and does not walk at all.

(10) ONE SHOULD NOT GO:

Even inside a building which has a covering. When one is under the open air of the heavens one must certainly be careful about this, according to all authorities.

(11) FOUR CUBITS

It is virtuous conduct to refrain even less than four cubits with an uncovered head and even to keep one's head covered while one sleeps at night.

There are authorities who lean towards the view that even to go four cubits with an uncovered head is not forbidden halachically and it is only required of those who are reserved in their ways to refrain from doing so. However, the Taz has already written below, that in our times being with an uncovered head fully involves the transgression of a halachically binding prohibition and it is even prohibited when one is sitting at home, see there for the reason. This is written likewise in responsa of the Mahari Bruna. The Magen Avraham writes that it is correct to get even children into the habit of covering their heads, so that they will have fear of Heaven. This conforms with what is stated "Cover your head so that you will have fear of Heaven (Shabbos 156.b)"

Note further that as regards to the requirement of not having an uncovered head, covering the head with one's hand is sufficient. If one is engaged in delousing his head he is in fact allowed to have his head uncovered. Peri Megadim writes that covering the head with one's hand is of no avail for one to be allowed to go four cubits under the air of the heavens.

(12) WITH AN UNCOVERED HEAD

It is certainly forbidden to make a blessing or, correspondingly, to study Torah with an uncovered head. Covering the head with one's hand is of no avail for this, as the hand and the head belong to the same body and the body cannot cover itself. There are those who are lenient about this when it is a time of pressing need. For example, at night, when one wishes to drink and does not have a covering on his head. They say that in such a case, it is sufficient to cover the head with one's hand. However, it is better to act as the public acts in such a case, which is to draw out the sleeve of one's garment over the hand and cover one's head with that. Then it is a satisfactory cover according to all.

The Peri Megadim writes that one must be careful when he puts on the head tefilin not to make the blessing with an uncovered head.

One must forbid the use of a wig of hair as a head cover, even when it is sewn with a cloth underneath, because an onlooker will be suspicious of the wearer and assume that it is his own hair. There are, however, those who are lenient about this and allow one to regard a wig as a head covering.

(13) ONE SHOULD EXAMINE

This is needed so that one's body will be clean subsequently at the time he accepts upon himself the Kingdom of Heaven by reading the "Shema" and praying the "Shemona Esrey."

Only a mere examination is required. If one examined himself and found that he does not have a desire now to use his outlets, his body is classed halachically as a clean body. God forbid that after that he should delay because of concern over the cleanness of his body until it is too late to read the "Shema" on time or even merely to pray together with the congregation.

(14) BAREFOOTED

The Sages, of blessed memory, said that a person should sell all his possessions to purchase shoes for his feet.

In Arab countries, where it is usual to go barefooted, one is allowed to do so. So sais Eliyahu Rabba. He writes further, on the authority of the Shelah, that to go barefooted out of repentance for one's sins is permitted. King David, may he rest in peace, also acted like this and went barefooted.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This innovation was later on added to the New Testament by Paul.

1 Corinthians 11

4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
