In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Have you ever experienced a time in your life where you have been hurt by someone. Someone that you really care about and would do anything for? You feel betrayed or even let down. The person that you care for has done something to hurt you. In their mind it may not seem as serious or they may not be not be aware that they have hurt you. But, the person who gets hurt feels the pain. In the Quran, God says to forgive and forget, but that does not always come easy to the person that is suffering. Forgiveness is a process that may take more time for one person than it does for another. You may really want to forgive someone although in your mind and heart you are afraid that you may get hurt again and do not want to take that chance. The ability to forgive and to resume your life like the way it was, is a quality that not many people possess. You can even get hurt through people backbiting or even through someone's actions.

What I mean by this is that a person may come to you and say that they care for you but that does not necessarily mean they do. True feelings and emotions are backed up by your actions.

Forgiveness is a command that God gives all His followers no matter how bad the situation. One way to solve problems and reach forgiveness is to confront the person that you feel uneasy about and have an open exchange of opinions since they may not have seen things the way that you did or vice versa. The most important thing between two people is communication, especially if you are close to that person and do not want to end what you once had. This is where forgiveness comes in, when the two sides have discussed the issue and met each other's needs. One of the saddest things to see is a friendship, relationship, or even acquaintance be over because something has happened to antagonize two or more people.

When people exchange marriage vows, they always mention for better or for worse, just like through thick and thin. I believe that this quote should be used also in friendships so that if something happens it will pull the two or more people closer together and they will gradually form a stronger bond that will withstand any future challenges.

As this bond develops, you are able to work together in handling different matters that arise with a strong heart knowing that you can count on each other for advise and support. Always remember that communication is the key. Keeping in touch with a person not only keeps you close and shows that you care but has the most miraculous effect of letting someone know that you are there for them. Sometimes you need that extra little love and sympathy and sometimes you don't. Communication is the only way to let a person know that the love and concern is always there.

There is nothing better in life than submitting to God alone and having a good friend that will be there for you when you need them.

-------------- A Leaf

How can I understand and love nature

The varied shapes and

green colored shades of leaves

The strength of their roots

holding life bearing veins that breath

Pushing through dense soil and rock

And the One who created them

side by Side

Each as full and rich

as the particles of dry land

Uniting to make them stand.

Believe in Miracles

when things have gone wrong,

as they sometimes will do,

or an obstacle suddenly pops into view,

You've got to believe this is merely a stop

And eventually you're bound

to come out on top-

So whatever you do, just don't quit!

5:35 O you who believe, you shall

reverence God and seek

the ways and means to Him and

strive in His cause, ht you may succeed.

17:19 As for those who choose the

Hereafter as their priority, and work

righteousness, while believing, their

efforts will be appreciated

94:S-6 With pain there is gain. Indeed,

with pain there is gain Whenever

possible you shall strive. Seeking

only your Lord.

In the Quran, God informs us that backbiting is considered one of the most horrible accusations. In chapter 49, verse 12, we read:

"0 you who believe, you shall avoid any suspicion, for even a little bit of suspicion is sinful. You shall not spy on one another, nor shall you backbite one another; this is as abominable as eating the flesh of your dead brother. You certainly abhor this. You shall observe God. God is Redeemer, Most Merciful."

Those who believe in God must control their mouths and resist the temptation to talk about another person behind their back. The reason for this is that the person that is being discussed is not present to defend themselves. When you discuss anything with another person, whether you be two or three people, God is always present and hears everything that you say. So, even if you deny that you have talked behind someone's back, God was there and He heard you so you are denying the truth and lying which is another sinful action. Here is another little thing to think about as well

- do unto others as you would want to have done to you. "Anything good that happens to you is from God, and anything bad that happens to you is from you."(4-79) So if you are backbiting behind somebody you aren't helping yourself. Besides, if someone is backbiting behind you, you shouldn't worry because it doesn’t bring you down but hurts the person who is doing it. Also, backbiting can get you into a lot of trouble with people that you truly care about or can start a rumor that gets out of hand and really hurts some innocent people. So, next time you decide to say something behind someone's back, just think about it twice.

God informs us about the dangers and consequences of gossip and backbiting in the Ouran

(49:12, 12:30-31, 24:11-12, 28:55). In 49:12, God

mentions that gossip is like eating the flesh of your dead brother. I began to think why God mentions such an awful description. What came to my mind is that God always mentions that those who submit to Him are sisters and brothers. We know that the Ouran provides guidance and direction for everyone who believes in God. If we talk behind another person who believes and submits to God that means we are talking about our sister and brother. why does God say dead brother? A dead person can not defend himself. So when we are gossiping, the person is not there to defend himself and is therefore like a dead person. The flesh that is eaten can not be replaced and when we gossip about someone, we ruin the person's reputation which is very hard to fix. I hope this explanation is a reminder to all of us to stop gossiping.

--------------- Dear Adam and Chancellor

I am very curious to know why God did not create everyone to believe in and submit to Him ?!

Signed, Curious.

Dear Curious,

I don't know how Chancellor feels about this question but I can tell you what I think. God created all of us and blessed us with hearing, eyesight and intelligence. It is very easy for God to make the decision for us and not give us a chance to decide on our own how to believe or what to believe in. However, God did not want to create pre-programmed robots. God wants each of us to use our senses to establish our own priorities. Do we want to ignore the beautiful flower or sunset or do we want to

praise God for such a wonderful sight? Do we want to take the time to thank God for the food we are about to eat or do we prefer to devour our meal without reflecting on this blessing or giving thanks to the One who provides for us. I think the main reason for this freedom of choice is so that on the day of judgment when we each face God, we will view our actions and will be held accountable for the decisions we made with our own free will. (signed - Adam)

Well, Mr. or Mrs. Curious, I tend to agree with Adam on this response
and would like to add a few more points. In addition to freedom of
choice, I think diversity is an important point to mention. We are all
different in our preferences and way of thinking. This diversity can be a blessing for someone who comes to appreciate God because of the actions, beliefs and conduct of another person. Our interaction with others can bring us closer to God or can repel us further from God. The decision is ours. If you think about your interactions with people when discussing the topic of religion or God, you may recall the impact it had on you. Diversity is a great blessing from God. Any blessing from God deserves our serious attention. (signed - Chancellor)
